This weekend marked the start of PECO’s Multicultural Series at Penn’s Landing. Featuring culture’s from all over the world, the Multicultural Series consists of free, one-day festival events in Old City Philadelphia along the banks of the Delaware River.
Crowds were treated to a fantastic, energetic performance by the McLean Avenue Band, an Irish American group based out of Yonkers, New York. On the fiddle was the talented Jake James, two-time All Ireland Fiddle Champion, and on lead guitar and vocals was Padraig Allen, a native Irishman with an extensive career playing with bands from Ireland and around the world.
Since I haven’t been able to go back to Milwaukee for Irish Fest in a few years, this was a welcome adventure that didn’t take me too far from home! It was great to hear Irish music again, and I will definitely keep up with the McLean Ave Band into the future.
Unfortunately, I missed the Irish Dance performances, but this little girl stuck around for the McLean Ave show, and treated the crowd to lots of Irish Dancing! She even got a shout out from Padraig towards the end of the show, and got to take a big bow.
